Credibility is king when selling a product on the internet. It can literally make or break your sales. If you have no credibility, then why would somebody, anybody buy from you?
Look at the big names in marketing. I can guarantee you that a lot of their sales now, come from the credibility they have. "Oh if it is from Cory Rudl, i'm sure it is good" type of credibility.
So how does one achieve this kind of credibility? Some kind of interaction with your customers, visitors, or market is critical.
Now I am not talking about becoming a guru. Sure, a lot of becoming a guru has to do with credibility, but I am not going to give you some lame "5 steps to guru status" idea.
I am just going to show you a few ways to get noticed in your market, and build up some rapport with your visitors.
As I will be stating repeatedly throughout this report, you must be unique. Do great successes follow the heard? Or lead it? It is quite obvious that you have to have some sort of unique edge, but it seems everybody is doing what everybody else is doing, which will not take you far!
1. Start an ezine or newsletter for your market!
Now I know what you are saying. And I know that everybody is telling you to start your own ezine but nobody seems to be giving you the truth.
So here it is, there are tens even hundreds of thousands of newsletters out there, and if you do not stand out in some way, then forget about starting an ezine and use one of the other techniques to build credibility.
This is especially true for marketing ezines. You see, the main purpose of an ezine (in my opinion) is to build up some rapport with your readers. Most people are missing this.
If you have good rapport with your readers, then it is okay to advertise your product, or affiliate program, etc..
Most ezines out there are all following the same trend. They run old-unfresh articles, they sell loads of advertising in their ezine, and hardly have any sort of personal touch from them to the reader.
So I ask you, would you rather receive an ezine that has an article you have already read, 20 classified ads, and no personal commitment from the editor to his readers?
Or would you rather receive useful information, tried and reviewed products instead of blatant ads, and an editor behind it all trying to help you along the way?
It is a pretty obvious decision. I am not going to lie, if you cannot do that for your readers, then do not start an ezine, it will be a waste of your time.
BUT, if you can accomplish uniqueness and commitment to your readers, then by all means, start an ezine. It is a great tool to build long lasting business relationships, enormous profits, and credibility as strong as a bull!

2. Publish a free E-book!
Ok, this is an excellent idea, but has the same effect as starting a newsletter. If you plan to just compile a bunch of other people's re-hashed crap, then forget it.
The whole point of publishing an e-book is to get it re-distributed from your readers. This is the power of it. 1 person downloads it and sends it to 3 of his friends, those 3 friends send it to 3 of their friends, etc..
So if your e-book is worthless, why would people care to send it to their friends? Or even read long enough to get to the part where you talk about your products or affiliate programs?
Make it worthy, stand out from the rest! Just because it is free does not mean it can be worthless. People love free stuff, yes, but people hate when you waste their time.
Don't do it just because everybody else does, or you found some free information to use in an e-book. Make a commitment and do it right. You cannot build credibility with poor acts.
I talk a lot about how to really create a great e-book in the new Viral Marketing Magic book at http://www.ebookpaper.com?art

3. Start a discussion forum.
This is one that I have not really done much with, so I am not going to act like I am an expert on it (Don't you hate when people do that :)!
BUT, a good friend of mine that I talk to everyday runs one of the most successful, most visited, and considered to be the best discussion forum on the net for marketing over at http://www.ablake.com/forum So with talking to him, I know quite a bit about it.
A big reason for the success of his board is that he never lets a SPAM message slip through his fingers.

Heck, I have never even seen a SPAM message on my regular visits. By SPAM message, I mean that people come and do not post questions or answers, but rather a blatant ad, usually anonymous.
This is the main reason why I have never run a board. SPAM messages happen daily on his board, but he and his moderators take care of them quickly. With running my newsletter and having so many products selling and in the works, I don't really have time for it, although you may.
He provides quality answers to people's questions, and always gives a personal touch.
Now don't get me wrong, if you don't know who Anthony Blake is, he is one of America's most respected copywriters, and you could say that a lot of the success from his board was because he already had credibility.
But I am here to say that anybody can accomplish what he has with his board, credibility or not. You can gain massive credibility over time as long as you have a quality board.
So what have we learned from the above? Well, it looks like you need three things to really become credible on the net.
1. Everything you do, free or not free, has to be worthy. You cannot waste people's time and expect them to think highly of you.
2. You have to give a personal touch. People don't want to talk to a robot. Let them know who you are, even tell them your failures. People cannot trust you if they have no idea who you are.
3. Building credibility takes a commitment. As with making money, there is no 1 button you can push and have all the money and credibility you want. You have to work at both, I would suggest building credibility first as it will bring you the money in the long run.
So, after what you just read, you might be saying, "But Wes, I do not have good fresh worthy information for a newsletter, e-book, or forum!"
Yes you do. In fact, I am positive you do. You see, most people come on to the internet, look at making-money programs, and start to think that the only way they are going to make money is by getting into the marketing of marketing products.
This is crap! Actually, Terry Dean recently stated that this is the worst market for a newbie to get into.
As stated above, you have to make a commitment. And you can only make a strong commitment to something you really love.
There is always something for everything on the net, and if there isn't, then be unique and be the first to come out with it. If you like cooking, or racing, or heck, sewing, then there are many many others on the net that do too.
Start building credibility doing something that you already love, it is much easier that way!
See you at the bank,
