In network marketing sales, the only way to fail is to quit. We have all went to check on our downline and found out that whereas we had say 100 people at the beginning of the month, at the end we ended up with 10 to 20. We all have trouble convincing the people in our network not to quit. How do we get them to stay involved long enough to start seeing success, though?
There are two things which prevent most network marketers from achieving success: They don't make $300 per month quickly enough, and their downline distributors don't either. The truth is that $300 a month is the income level at which networkers need to reach in order to stay involved in the business. People who make $300 a month in network marketing sales stay.
Attrition is network marketing sales most deadly enemy. It undermines the primary benefit that we pitch in order to recruit prospects: you sponsor 5 people, and they sponsor 5 people, and they sponsor 5 people, and so on. Attrition rates in network marketing average about 80 to 90 percent per year.
What really hurts is that an 80 to 90 percent attrition rate means that 80 to 90 percent of all your efforts as well as all the efforts of your downline organization are lost. You've spent great time, money, and effort to recruit people into your organization only to have them leave before they've had the chance to be successful! That hurts!
So why don't most network marketers ever get to the $300 per month level? Because they are not told the truth. We've all heard these pitches before:"You can make money doing nothing"..."Let us build your downline for you"..."Make thousands of dollars your first month"..."Put your income on automatic". If you want your networkers to stay, don't create unrealistic expectations for them. Besides, do you want networkers in your downline who believe these statements and will practice them? If they do nothing, their businesses won't grow and neither will yours. You'll be included in the 80 to 90 percent attrition rate!
Now, what would happen if you told your downline that the first step to success is to get to that $300 a month level within six months to a year? What would happen if you told them the truth about this business: when a distributor reaches a monthly income level of $300, they will not drop out. They will have a different attitude when they achieve $150 per month. Instead of feeling like a failure for not making $1000 to $10,000 when they only reach the $150 a month level, they will realize they are half way there. This is a much more realistic and attainable goal for a new networker.
Help formulate a plan based on the payout of your business to help your networkers reach that $300 a month goal within 6 months to a year, and watch your attrition rate fall.
